Necromancer – which weapon suits him the most?

Here I recently thought about what topic: in our beloved MMOs, the classes of characters are quite often called exactly the same, but at the same time they can look in a completely different way, for example, in one case a “warrior” is an angry colossus with two axes, and in the other-strong-up, armed with a shield and a sword. But we see such a class as a “warrior” quite often (in 90% of cases it is definitely), but comrade Necromancer is a guest in games quite rare. Moreover, the classes are leaving very far from their prototypes, which does not always benefit popularity.

Who is a necromancer in MMO? Usually this is a character, which inflict magical damage from afar, having at its disposal a large number of abilities that inflict damage over time, owning the skills of calling, and dressed, as expected to a magic type character, in light rag armor.

By the way, what is such necromancy in general? Wikipedia suggests that this is one of the ways of fortune telling, in which there is an appeal to the souls of the dead. In fact, such a description is not particularly suitable for the fact that we are used to seeing in games-a necromancer is not at all a fortuneteller at all, this is a powerful sorcerer who fights side by side with his resurrected dead, reading terrifying spells and using all kinds of curses and, as a rule, instigns in the hearts of opponents with one species.

But how is it most correct to portray it, in addition to obvious robes in dark, even black, tones, attributes in the form of skulls and an obligatory some ominous hood? What should he be armed?

Option 1: staff

The first option, it is the most obvious, quite lowdeposit-casinos.co.uk/ logical: the necromancer is, in fact, who? Magician, sorcerer. And what all sorts of such guys are armed? Magic staff. In this case, in this case, the force is often enclosed, calling for the necromancer of the dead to help and in MMORPG this type of necromancers is more common – allods online, Tree of Savior, Rift, Guild Wars 2, Everquest and the list can be continued even further and further and further. The staff of necromancers can easily be distinguished from similar to simple magicians and wizards even in appearance. And in this situation of cases, we have a very significant drawback-if the enemy manages to get into the neighboring zone in a more or less living condition, then for us it will most likely end sadly, because magic staffs are not even pole weapons, in close combat they are completely unsuitable.

Option 2: Grimoir

According to the definition of Grimoir, this is a book that contains descriptions of magic rites, various spells, including for the call of spirits, demons or dead, in our case, and containing any witchcraft recipes. This one can observe that we can observe in games and this option is quite common, though it is often the so-called off-hat, that is, it is an auxiliary weapon in the left hand, while the right is some magic dagger, sword or one-handed storage-this could be found, for example, in the old version of World of Warcraft, though the necromancer as such is not there, there is no relatively close to him is a criminal associated with demons, and a death knight. The fans of the game, by the way, have long been talking about the possible adding a necromancer to the game, this will be a certain mixture of two classes mentioned above.

The very idea to give a necromancer such an unusual weapon arose from the expression “death with a scythe”. The braid has long become a constant companion of death and everything went from associations: if life is fertility, then death is harvesting, and what is best to harvest (in the context of ancient times, of course)? That’s right, scythe. There was, of course, a sickle, but he does not look so convincing.

In my personal opinion, the braid is just the best choice for the necromancer, since in this situation he does not lose the opportunity to impose curses and call on the help of evil spirits, since the braid is partly a staff and may contain some magical properties, but even more so, the necromancer himself becomes an extremely dangerous fighter in the near fraud (his armor is not interfering, not interfering with a rag, not interfering movements) and damage that such weapons can apply at a very decent distance even in close combat (after all, the braid is quite long). And again, recalling antiquity, sickle -shaped swords were the best weapon against soldiers chained in the armor, since this form of the blade allowed to literally open the armor.

Yes, such a variety of necromancers is few, unfortunately, however, it can still be found and tested, for example, in the game SkyForge, where, in addition to all of the above, you can still take the form of a lich or even become a real god of death with a scythe in their hands, which is simultaneously a spectacular and extremely effective action.

The fantasy image of the necromancer, although it has some common features for different projects, can still be completely different in terms of gameplay, which I showed above. This class in the form in which we see it in games, practically does not intersect with its real prototype – a wandering plague doctor or even a psychic using a mystical connection with the world of the dead in order to obtain information about the past and future, but this does not prevent players from love him and continuing to destroy enemies in the most unholys, as well as to instill the primitive fear of their hearts.
